Our story

Deep roots,
open branches.

Masjid Al-Rahman was founded by a group of local Muslims who wanted a space to worship and come together as a community. That’s still the whole idea: a place where anyone can walk in, pray, and feel at home.

Our logo is a tree growing out of our name. Its roots run deep, and its branches reach toward the crescent. It’s a picture of what we hope to be for downtown Richmond: firmly grounded in faith and open to everyone who walks by.

    Loose, modest clothing is ideal. Women usually cover their hair in the prayer hall, so bring a scarf if you have one.

    Shoes off at the door

    We keep the prayer space clean, so slip your shoes off before stepping onto the carpet.

    Watch, join, or just sit

    Guests are always welcome to quietly observe a prayer. There’s no pressure to participate.
